ROOFTOP MC's - MINORITY REPORT ALBUM

In these days when cash and booty obsessed raplings encourage their listeners to party senselessly, it amounts to rebellion to do otherwise especially when it's done with as much, if not more energy and determination as the army of misguided prattlers. Now, back to our story...As the Nigerian hip hop scene evolves, several compelling characters are regularly thrown up, adding colour and verve to the colony of microphone commanders. Kunle Adeyoola a.k.a. Soulsnatcha and Olaitan Hughes a.k.a. Sokleva. Together known as RoofTop MCs, this Lagos pair are not only entertaining audiences with their brand of against the grain hip hop but are also spreading the message of Christ and practical Christian living to spiritually confused youths. Hold up! Before you dismiss them as another undistinguished gospel group it is imperative that I explain the phrase I have used to describe their mentality and brand of hip hop. The sound of these University of Lagos alumni can best be described as what you'll get when The Beastie Boys work with Run-DMC at Outkast's lab. In plainer English, the group tries to capture the situations and imaginations of enlightened young urban urbanites while giving us a peek in their nirvana of cryptic lyrics (I hope this is better). Having grown up in the 80s listening to a variety of music (Soulsnatcha's dad worked as a producer in Radio Nigeria 2 at the time) it was only normal that they incorporate elements of some of the prominent genres of the time into their music. But instead of limiting their creative excavation to hip hop's staple ore of funk soul and bass music, they've decided to introduce rock, pop and even skank into their sound. Including a dash of fuji helps to give their sound some semblance of cultural identity, enough for the average Nigerian listener to shed some of their indifference to what is generally perceived as American style hip hop. But the group's greatest strength lies in their ability to give electrifying live performances. RoofTop MCs are a class apart from the the rest when it comes to stage tantrums and pyrotechnics.
Roof Top MCs,one of the leading hip-hop groups of our times. After the release of the critically acclaimed album "Shock Therapy" containing tracks like 'Shock Therapy', Feel this (remix), have come out with a new album titled "Minority Report". Guilty Pleasures

Wikipedia defines it as "something one considers pleasurable despite it being mainly received negatively or looked down on by a majority of society". If youre feeling guilty about it, then it's definitely not right, but we do it all the time dont we.....promise no more cussing, but before we know it, we've called out all the words in the swear book...say we'd never check out that porno site, but the moment we get the chance, we're drawn toward the keyboard and our fingers just seem to type that link....there are tons and tons of examples i could give..
but why do we do it? even i am not immune....those moments you get really pissed you really wanna use the F word, and you find yourself whispering (God forgive me)
i wanna hear about it, what are those guilty pleasures that you know you really must let go of and youre having a hard time dropping?...yep, those things adding the extra pounds that you gotta shake off. we'll pray with you, even we need prayers concerning our guilt.

WHEN THINGS GET TOUGH

Hey, I do hope you had a fabulous valentine season, here’s what we’re talking about this week, it’s something WE ALL have experienced and probably still will, but we’ll know better by the time we’re through reading.

…….$!*CRASH*@%! (I’m not cussing o)….yea, we all have moments when we’re completely worn and exhausted and so experience all sorts of emotions - fear, worry, anxiety…and the rest. And I am not immune to them. Sometime last night…I totally had that moment. But, I did have options

A) Keep worrying myself and wearing myself out to the point of major major panic mode

B) Cry it out if I must, talk to God about it, talk to someone about it, and ask myself “what is the way forward?”

So that’s what I did, I admitted that I was indeed worn, I told God I really needed to feel that relief and I just really needed a way out…..Learn this, the holy spirit takes what…like 3 minutes to get you that relief, so I called up a friend, I cried my eyes out, he listened, let me finish (I really felt like a baby, but trust me I was glad to have that). When I was done, we went to “what is the way forward?”…Know this that at times like this, you never really can point out what is making you feel stressed. So we noted all possible causes, and solutions to all these. I hadn’t tried any of these before I went to bed, but knowing that I had let it all out, was the biggest relief.

WHEN THINGS ARENT EXACTLY RIGHT?
DO
- Talk to God. Be honest with him. Admit that you’re helpless and you really need to feel relieved and you really need his help. Do this and you’ll strengthen your relationship with him.
DO NOT
- Keep panicking and dwelling on all the things that have gone wrong, things that you have no control over. You’re already in a pit, don’t keep digging deeper.
DO
- Talk to someone, someone you can pray with and you can confide in. At this point who you talk to matters a lot, don’t talk to someone you know isn’t the best person to be talking to at that point (and trust me, we do know who not to talk to).
DO NOT
- Bury it. Try to hide it or get temporary relief by hiding behind work or something else (trust me I should know, that was my specialty). It does no good except magnify the problem actually, coz you have to face it when you least expect.
DO
- Relax. I get inspired to write whatever, a song, poem…hey this is a product of it. Write it all out if you want to…Just chill out, BREATHE!!!
DO NOT
- Stop trying to solve the matter on your own. You already tried that before, that’s why you were feeling worn in the first place. Especially don’t try to handle it without God.
DO
- Lastly, keep testifying (Rev 12:11A) “we overcome……….and by the word of OUR testimony”. Just keep telling yourself things are going to be fine. It’ll gear you up.
DO NOT
- Give Up. You’re not going to be in this forever (Romans 5:3-5). So people, take a chill pill and keep holding on, you’ll get there.
I know it may seem "oh its easier said than done", and trust me I did feel like that, but it isn’t so hard to do…in fact it’s not as hard as worrying, panicking and bottling things up, and it's especially less stressful. Try it out and give me a feedback, I’d love to hear about your experience (boostxyc@gmail.com)

it's Valentine's

yep...so we absolutely have to talk about it. It's like everywhere you look there's red..whether there are ribbons or balloons, or roses...whatever, but the town is red. To satisfy my curiosity i've decided to pose this question..."what exactly is valentines and why do we do it?"...why does everyone only go the extra mile in february? Is this the only period we should show love? Is not love an every second thing?......so what's the fuss about it in february alone?
To cut it short...why now? what does valentine mean to you?....chocolates and roses...oh and teddy bears for the ladies?
What is the fuss about?

The Power of Thought
Before you start something you must create the right thought about whatever it is that you want to do. You must align your thoughts with the project ahead of you. It is a law that you must not get involved in anything, whilst harbouring bad feelings within you about the thing, or the person that made the demand on you. (2 Corinthians 12:7-10). Find joy in the task ahead no matter how daunting it may seem, it is an opportunity for you to expand. If your heart is grieved or it has a bad feeling towards your action it nullifies the effect of what you’re doing and thus amounts to nothing (i.e. work done equals zero). Most human beings are unaware of the power of their thoughts they don’t take into cognisance the effect that the state of their hearts has upon the circumstances that surround them. As a result of this they look to their actions to make everything happen. We agree that action is an important component in the physical world, but it is not through action that you create your physical experience. When you need to perform a task you ought to know that your actions ought to be used to enjoy the experience you want to derive from it and not vice-versa. For starters you must create the thought and the feeling of the joy derived within that experience. Once these two ingredients are fulfilled you have launched the creation of that particular task. Thus, working towards its manifestation in the future ensures that from its joyful creation in your heart that you will be inspired to take the right actions and these actions will be in joy. Actions taken in the present that have not been taken in joy are true to the letter, but such a series of actions will never have a happy ending. All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that has a merry heart hath a continual feast. (Proverbs 15:15). For any fixed goal/target that you want to hit you must find joy in its achievement.Pressure and demand are the price paid by performers and as a result those that achieve results have them as constant companions initially this is not a pleasant experience but one that people must learn to handle rightly. In order to discover joy in our hearts over various tasks we must first of all pray. Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any merry? Let him sing psalms. (James 5:13)The key to joy in the midst of the situation is ‘the light of the eyes’ (the light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart) (Prov 15:30) this light is what God commanded at the beginning of His task of creation when there was only darkness and the earth was without form and void. The entrance of thy words giveth light it giveth understanding unto the simple (Ps 119:130) with this understanding the individual now knows the steps he should take. The end product is expansion and increase on every side i.e. when you walk, your steps shall not be hampered (your path will be clear and open) and when you run, you will not stumble. (Prov 4:12).
